Victor Hugo Castañeda was born in Michoacán and at 4 years of age he moved to Mexico City. For 25 years he has been living in Cuernavaca Morelos.
From an early age, the sculptor has been involved with art, as he comes from a family of sculptors. From his childhood, his hobby was drawing and since then, unconsciously showed his skills as a good draftsman and his taste for female figure.
Because he was involved in the student movement of 1968 while studying Electrical Engineering at the National Polytechnic Institute, the sculptor decided to change the course of his life.
In 1969 he entered to La Esmeralda (National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving), after being involved in the movement of '68, with which he lived a very strong experiences; However, he made the decision to study there.
He loved what he was studying, but he switched from electrical mechanics to art. The '68 was a terrible year for him, but the next year he entered to La Esmeralda and it was as if the universe were opened to him. Since then, the artist has dedicated his life to sculpture.
He participates actively in national and international exhibitions, the most recent being held at the DB Art Gallery in Monterrey. Now he was offered to exhibit in Los Cabos, and is in talks to perform another in Buffalo, New York. His next confirmed show will be in the Louvre Museum in Paris, which will involve artists from various parts of the world.
